30.01.2018 - Changes to EventsOur first two shows are over and we have learned a couple of valuable lessons in the process of hosting them. As a consequence our competition system has undergone several changes, here's a detailed list of them: [/b] In the future the event rules as well as the detailed descriptions of the requested excercises can be found directly in the event thread so that you don't have to read through multiple threads anymore. All information needed to participate in an event will be found in its thread.[/div] » The Event Info and Rules thread (previously "Competition Rules") has been rewritten and several rules have been omitted. Any rules that have been excluded are no longer in effect. Please make sure to reread that thread so you're up to date. » Lure Coursing Trials have been changed to Hound Trials so we can offer a specialized activity for scent hounds as well. Hound trials include a lure coursing class open to sight hounds (Coursers) and a scent tracking class open to scent hounds (Trackers). » Events like dock diving, weight pulling, obedience rallies and other such activities are no longer classified as fun shows, instead they are classified as pleasure trials. Thus, just like with any other kind of trial, the winners will be awarded official points as well as monetary prizes. Fun shows still will not award any points, however with the new rule changes monetary prizes may be given out. » Lastly, the forum structure has been changed, the new parent forum for events hosted by us and our judges includes subforums for shows, trials and other events (fun shows, CGC tests) as well as a consolidated archive. [/ul] We hope these changes are well received and apologize for the inconveniences caused by them.

February 19th, 2018 - Returning[/a], please send any PMs meant for me to that account. In addition to that, from now on the required picture size for trial pictures will be 800 x 450 px. Conformation show pictures keep their old size of 800 x 600 px. Make sure that your pictures adhere to the exact size requested in the rules as from now on failure to do so will result in disqualification. [/ul][/div]

20 May, 2018 - Group Clubs & Handler of Merit[/h3] [/a] post we'll be introducing the Handler of Merit award! You can see a bit of the breakdown on our thought process for adding this in the Upcoming Changes post, but what this means right now is that for Mays trials, along with the announcement of the Winners and placements, we'll be adding on the Judge's Favourite. Then, at an as of yet undetermined date, we'll compile all of the Judge Favourites' and open the Well-Groomed voting period. This will be a chance for the community to all vote on their own favourites! At the end of the voting period the winner will be awarded the Handler of Merit, receiving a certificate along with a monetary prize. This is still something that we're very open to suggestions and input on, so feel free to leave some feedback in the linked post![/ul][/ul] [/h3] [/a] on our Registration page. Please make sure that you've all had a chance to figure out who will have leadership roles before filling it out! The goal is to make sure that the Clubs aren't nearly as time consuming as running a Breed Club - you'll have other leaders to help share the load with, but having a leadership role within a Group does come with other responsibilities, so make sure to keep that in consideration before taking on the role. 01 June, 2018 - Conformation Show Changes, Ribbons, Rules Changes [/h3] [/b] We'll now be requiring a head shot (still in the 800 x 600 px size) to be included for Conformation Show entries. So you'll need to have a Stack, Head shot, and Gait photo. The headshot should include a clear, close-up, shot of your dogs head and a portion of their chest. Example: link[/ul] [/b] As we feel that we've got enough dogs being entered in Conformation Shows (over 70 for May!) we would like to introduce Best of Breed (BOB) & Best Opposite (BOO)! If you're unfamiliar with these placements, BOB is awarded to the best representative of a particular breed while BOO is awarded to a dog of the opposite sex to the BOB winner. These placements will only come into play should there be at least 3 dogs of the breed entered in the show.[/ul] [/b] Along with the new additions we'll be making some changes in how you submit entries. To make the process simpler on Judges awarding BOB/BOO we'll now be including a space to input your dogs Sex in the entry form as well as implementing a One Dog Per Post rule to help keep the judging process smooth. It's a lot simpler for us to locate a single post than to dig through a post with multiple dogs in them![/ul] [/b] With the amount of entries we had for May's Conformation Show, we've realised that it's a lot for one or even two judges to handle. Robyn Bonds & Lorelai Grey have been nice enough to step in for at least June's show and will be in charge of judging some specific groups. In the future this will go to various members of Group Clubs, but until more of those get started Robyn will be judging the Terrier and Sporting Groups while Lorelai will be judging the Herding and Working groups. The main judge will deal with the other entries as well as entries from Robyn and Lorelai's kennels and our reserve judges will still judge the entries of the Main judge but we're hoping this will help with some of the load for now.[/ul] [/a]. 01.07.2018 - Changes to titling systemTitle Requirement Changes[/b] Required points for everything except for the Champion title will be increased by 10 along with an increase in the amount of participation required in order to qualify.[/div] » Required participation for the Champion title will be increased to 5. This means that even if your dog has the necessary points they will need to participate in a total of five shows before they can qualify for the title. »YOU WILL HAVE UNTIL THE 5TH OF THIS MONTH TO GET YOUR APPLICATIONS IN FOR DOGS THAT CURRENTLY QUALIFY FOR A TITLE UNDER OUR CURRENT POINT SYSTEM! [/ul] More shows each month![/b]To help balance out the the title gain for the trials we'll now be hosting two normal trials and a pleasure trial each month along with the Conformation show.[/div][/ul] New additions! [/b] Sledding. This will include some unique titles and points to be earned for your dog teams and will be open to teams of 4 or 7. We're excited about this addition but we'll be waiting until we have more active dog teams around before we fully implement it.[/div] » Canicross. This hybrid of trail running and dog sledding is being added on to our pleasure trial roster. »Junior Showmanship. We'll have more information on this once the thread gets posted! »Service Dog Certificate. This is a way for the SIKC to recognise a dog that has passed their service work training. A dog will still need to have completed their training with a SD training course in order to be awarded the certificate. [/ul] Extras[/b]Dogs that die, are retired, or are owned by an account that gets deleted before results are posted for shows/trials that they have entered in will be disqualified.[/div] »Admins and Judges can see when a post has been edited! Going forward we're going to be a lot stricter on this and posts that are edited without permission during an active show or trial will be disqualified. Please feel free to send any of us with the Admin or Judge title a message if you need to edit your posts for any reason, it can be for something as small as a typo to needing to fix a broken image link. 12 August, 2018[/a] are currently open, in case you are interested in becoming a judge or registrar. Wrap-ups[/a]. Hopefully we'll have some other themed Conformation Shows in the future along with some other events similar to the Fun in the Sun series. We've got one last trial for the Fun in the Sun events so look forward to that being opened in the next day or so.[/ul] New & Upcoming[/a] with a bunch of tips, links to relevant mods & tutorials, and explanations about some of the various frequently asked questions we get. We've also touched on the SIKC's stance about using publicly available dogs off tumblrs, the gallery, ect so please make sure to check that out. Give it a look and let us know if there are any other tips, tricks, or info you think would be helpful to add! The first Well-Groomed voting period for the Handler of Merit award is open! And lastly, we've got a Banner Contest coming up soon so keep your eyes peeled for that.[/ul][/ul]
