The LMBC maintains the registry for the Lovni Medvjed and holds general information about the breed for all simmers looking to get involved. It is maintained by Lovac Greben, the first kennel within the SIKC to have the Lovni Medvjed in their kennel. Not only do they want to bring more simmers in to learn about the breed, we also want to clear out any of the misconceptions about the breed.
About the Lovni Medvjed
The Lovni Medvjed is a large hunting breed which was found in Croatia in the late 1800s. Named after it's career of bear hunting, he has a fearless and loyal nature but can be extremely friendly to his family. With the popularity of Bear Hunting decreasing, the Lovni Medvjed is more commonly seen doing other dogs such as protection work (Pravi Line) or sniffer dog work (Miris Line) though original Lovni owners still participate in the hunting of bears and other large preys native to the countries of either Bosnia or Croatia. Original Lovni owners wish to keep the breed to how it was seen in history as a brave and fearless hunter of bears so continue to push their dogs to be as great as their ancestors were at Bear Hunting. The breed is now quite popular today with many currently living in Croatia, their home country, as well as a large group appearing in Bosnia.
