INTERVIEW QUESTIONS
Owner: The Catahoula breed has been with me since I was just a tot, bumbling around the bayou. Our dogs are likely what kept me from falling head-first into the jaws of some prowling alligator, always tugging on my clothes to keep me from straying too far. M'mama raised us to celebrate all of the wonders native to our little nook of the country, and Catahoulas have always just been a part of that. Our family started with the traditional baying, but as the dogs gained recognition we took to showing as well. Monroe is handled by both myself and Wesley Ballard. If you're familiar with the breed, they're very much about their moods. Often times, we leave who takes which dog into the ring up until the last minute! With Monroe, it very much depends on who she's wanting to show off for any given day.
Dog: Monroe is our foundation bitch. While breeding has run in our family for a number of years, she was my first gal with the kennel fully under my reigns. I've assisted in whelping litters since I myself was a young pup, but she's been the dog where I truly take over. She wasn't Hellhound's first litter under my name, but she was the first of our many Catahoula Cur litters. She's an incredible, driven dog. You couldn't ask for a more obstinate yet downright obedient, hard-working dog. Monroe hates to be bored, so she keeps us all guessing and on our toes when it comes to training. Although - true to her breed - she's an aloof girl, she loves her people and is very attentive of us.
How was your year: This year has been fantastic for us! We welcomed two litters, both championed, and we continue to press onward. We're continually pushing toward our Specialty titles, with high hopes for Monroe moving forward. Our dogs continue to impress us in all matter of things, and we were incredibly impressed at just how quickly both of our head Catahoulas, Monroe and Lark, were able to knock out those Champion titles. We hope to maintain our focus on our initial dogs, and really dig into getting our first generation of pups off the ground and into successful careers themselves.
Extra: We're hoping to knock out Monroe's Bronze Grand Championship this year, and finally prepare for our most anticipated litter between her and our stunner, Lark! That aside, she will continue her training in various other trial avenues alongside our other dogs as we continue to make our mark.
