About the SWGC
The SWGC hopes to help educate and encourage those of the community looking to work, breed, or show these dogs and is run by a few kennel owners that are passionate and well versed in the various breeds that make up the working group. We're here to offer information - including standards for currently accepted breeds, along with a variety of templates & poses for those just starting out, links to active kennels working with dogs of this group, shows & trials sponsored by us.
The Working Group
The dog breeds of the Working Group were bred to guard property, protect livestock, pull sleds and carry carts. With their guardian and working heritage often comes loyalty, eagerness, protectiveness and in some cases, a large and commanding presence. If you're a fan of big dogs, then you'll appreciate this group! Many of these breeds are gentle giants who, despite their large size, could live comfortably in an apartment or condo - while others are so large, powerful or independent-minded that they're not suitable for first-time owners.
If you're an experienced owner who can provide proper training and early socialisation, then these Working dogs may be the perfect companions for you!
Registration & Events
The SWGC will offer a varity of events - group specific, all-breed, and on occasion will require registration with the SWGC to be able to participate. The majority of events will not require registration but those that do will come with larger monetary rewards sponsored by the leaders, custom poses/cc, or custom made dogs/templates.
Events hosted by registered members of the SWGC qualify for sponsorship, if approved the SWGC will provide the prize and these events will be pre-approved for affiliation with the SIKC as long as they follow the SIKC affiliation guidelines.
