Welcome to the Autumn 2022 Canine Good Citizen Test held by the SIKC!
This program aims to promote responsible dog ownership and highlight well-behaved dogs with excellent personalities. The requested exercises test for behaviour, obedience and adaptability and your picture must show your dog completing one of them. Your dog should be friendly, calm and attentive throughout the whole test, any sign of aggression or fear will result in a failing grade. While there are no winners and no points or monetary prizes, all dogs who receive a passing grade will receive a certificate as well as the official "CGC" title.
Dogs must have a recent vaccine record, from an endorsed clinic, to participate in the CGC testing! Please reach out to your Breed or Group clubs or check out Wet Nose to secure vaccinations.
Pictures of an incorrect size, death, pregnancy/nursing, retirement of a dog before results are posted, additional pictures exceeding the required amount, or editing of a post without permission from an Admin, Mod, or Judge will result in disqualification!

Exercises- Choose 3 plus Separation Reaction
» Stranger // The dog allows a friendly stranger to approach the Handler and shake his hand.
» Sitting // The dog allows a friendly stranger to pet it while staying calm and friendly.
» Stay // The dog must sit and lay down on command and then stay while the handler walks off.
» Call // The dog must come when the handler calls him.
» Reaction // The dog must stay calm and collected when approached by another leashed dog.
» Distraction // The dog must stay calm and collected when a distraction happens, such as a dropped chair.
Supervised Separation is used to demonstrate that your dog is capable of being left in the care of a trusted person while maintaining their good manners and training. Honour system is in full effect! Fill in your dogs' name on the below form and include the results you're given - no re-rolls. This must be completed along with the 3 exercises, failure to complete this portion of the test will result in disqualification.
» Separation // The handler will give the leash to a friendly stranger and walk out of sight. The dog must stay calm and friendly. Failure to pass this portion of the test isn't a bad mark on the dog itself but will bar them from passing this months test - they will need to re-enter the next held CGC.
