It all began when the Dutch Society of Agriculture decided to start hosting dog shows in the late 1800s. That day included the first 217 dogs to be shown within the Netherlands, shortly to be followed by more shows and then field trials thereafter. In modern times, the Netherlands now regularly hosts shows and is proud to claim nine special breeds as their own. We are also the leading club and registry in the Netherlands, although we ultimately default to the guidance and infrastructure of the Sims International Kennel Club. We are proud to partner with them in maintaining, protecting, and guiding the breeds native to our lands in addition to promoting the continued ethical practices of canine enthusiasts. Our club is most heavily associated with the Herding Group and its parent club. While we work closely with SIKC and SKA, we most closely work with the group parent club. At this time, we also have a host of smaller regional clubs that we are happy to support and hope individuals will enjoy participating with! Currently, the Nederlandse Dobermann Club is our first running specialty club. We hope to see several other regional clubs in our future. |
