Deen Breed Club Leader Posts: 338 Likes: 0	Post by Deen on Jun 9, 2021 19:06:15 GMT -6 Sabrina and her owner, Demure, buckle in The original plan was to let Sabrina labor at home but after a exhausting night my sister Demure happily agreed to set her up at the old farmhouse. The chaos of the kennel wasn't a problem in the newly reno'd basement, I was thrilled to see the space finally in use! The previous all nighter was weighing on us, we napped downstairs while periodically checking in on her progress. By 11 things were in full swing and we soon welcomed our very first homebred pup, a big girl with beautiful pigment! She labored for around 2 hours before we met a sibling - he was about half the size and needed a little more help getting here. We hadn't finished with him before another puppy was here. The other two came behind fairly quickly! First Latches Our red collar boy Shark certainly scared us for a second, but I'm happy to say Sabrina delivered 5 beautiful babes pretty smoothly for a first time mum! She's been very attentive and I and her human, Demure, couldn't be prouder. We are watching Shark closely and as long as he's gaining there should be no reason to have to supplement just yet. He's got plenty of spirit in that tiny body. Stay tuned for more updates on this litter!

Sabrina is used to being hot on my trail and fulltime motherhood has taken a lot of adjustments - as they grow she takes her more frequent breaks gratefully! I'm up real early to breathe a little myself and no doubt the activity rouses Sabrina awake. She'll wait quietly until she hears the basement door creak - then she gives me an earful. While she has some morning fresh air I move the pups, change out the whelping pad and clean any messes. It pays in lots puppy cuddles. Just some quick shots of their developed spots, 3 black spotted and 2 livers (Cliffhanger, Chatterley), I'm so enjoying watching them grow and Mama Sabrina dote on her youngins! I see so much of both of their parents in them. Formal pictures when I have some more hands around, stay tuned!

They'll have some supervised time each day from here on out. A big thanks to Nazz for helping me get their individual pics finished! They are getting more agile and squirmy by the minute. I can already see some interesting developments in the ways of temperament which I'm sure is evident in these pictures! Busby\|Female\|Yellow Collar\|Black This gal is very laid back, she does enjoy play but is super independent and does her own thing. Shark\|Male\|Red Collar\|Black His small size doesn't mean anything. He is first in line to take on challenges and push in front. Willthey\|Male\|Green Collar\|Black Thinks for himself. He loves human interaction.If I had to choose the SD of the bunch he's my pick. Chatterley\|Female\|Orange Collar\|Liver Snuggles. Velcro puppy, less energy but still inquisitive. She thinks things through, very serious. Cliffhanger\|Male\|Blue Collar\|Liver He is very outgoing, he loves to give kisses and is FOCUSED on me! Just a week until temp testing can be performed, I'm eager to see scores. Placements certainly won't be easy, I'm so enjoying ALL of their growth.

I want to thank the owners for giving me the privilege of matching you with a piece of my heart! I am so confident they will bloom in their new homes. We are nearing take home day and I wanted to get some updated photos of the Tropes and their growth. Sabrina has done a fabulous job but has gained some independence back home at night with Danny and me since the pups are eating 100% puppy chow! With how smoothly that transition has gone I have no doubt that they will settle into new homes quite nicely with just a bit of time. The rainy weather in Forgotten Hollow has left us a little stir crazy, but we are making it with 5 wild pups to look after! Stay tuned for more updates on these pups! We are so close to take home date!

I had moved the box and whelping supplies to my upstairs spare bedroom for convenience’s sake, I guess I kinda knew doing this alone was a possibility. Neve decided that day 57 she’d go into labor without much warning at all, by 8pm I called Nazz and told her to stay put, she wouldn’t make it until the early hours of the morning and these puppies were coming now. We agreed she’d be there at the first reasonable hour. We welcomed Neve’s first little one at 8:50, a lovely little gal that’s the spitting image of Gomez! Not even an hour later followed our biggest girl, a sable like mum, with the strongest pair of lungs I’ve ever seen on a pup. She too agreed that Neve’s eviction was too soon. Just minutes later she sadly delivered a small stillborn boy who is now resting under a tree behind the farmhouse. I was thankful that we had a little over an hour until the next pup, I was able to collect myself and attend to mama and our two very strong little girls. At 11:05 a little bitty thing was born; our smallest pup is a silver phantom girl. I was sure I felt one more, then two. 11:58, another phantom girl! I was now positive we still had two more puppies. Neve dozed until almost 1AM, when she delivered her last puppy - it was one very beautiful and very large silver boy! Mama and pups are all doing splendid and eating - no puppy chow for picky Neve, high quality freeze dried in broth is about all this pain eats right now. I am so proud of our first-time mama; it was a flurry of emotions for myself, and I am so grateful to have helped welcome these 5 little lumps - 4 girls and 1 boy into the world. Being that this is Neve's last litter we are savoring every moment with our gal, it's a wondrous time to spend outside enjoying the cool weather. Neve & Sterling will be expecting 4-5 lil ones any day now. Thankful to all our eager families who are waiting for them to make their debut!

Neve wouldn't take breakfast and I settled her down in the basement room with little expectations. The panting had been daily, and she was one to go off her food periodically but wait - her temp was right! She was not pacing or nesting, she rested in her favorite corner and 4 hours later at *10 am she was delivering her first pup* - a beautiful red abstract boy. *20 minutes later followed his brother* – a big flashy black abstract boy. *We welcomed the first little girl, a red phantom abstract, at 11:08. Neve’s labored nearly 1hr to no avail – she was obviously pushing but nothing. I could feel the puppy and guided her out alongside Neve’s contractions gently by her legs. Neve gave a final push and delivered her last puppy, a black abstract, at 12:30pm.* She was not breathing, we worked for nearly 10 minutes on her before she began to come to, what relief. Madonna(green collar) is being watched extra close but is eating well with some manual latching. I’ll be on the couch next to the box the next few days just a few steps away. Neve is a very independent mother just as she is in everyday life. The pups are very clean and fat, she could not be asked to leave them for a potty break until nightfall. I couldn’t be prouder, really. *2 boys and 2 girls* – much more evenly matched than her last litter. All have eager families awaiting them, lucky pups! Our pick is a sweet goofy red abstract boy who charges head first into the chaos and loves every second of it. He is working on being more handler focused - all dogs are his best best friend. Pawley will be going to the stud dog owner, thanks so much to FOrgotten Star Dogs VK ! He is a focused and precise little beast - he loves to sneak attack his siblings like a furry little ninja. He is never underfoot and while he doesn't shy away he doesn't come running with the rest of the dogs either. Independence from his mother, Neve, shining through no doubt. Brier is joining a blooming new program Colbie Cahill , she will certainly make a beautiful foundation dog. She is the kissiest funniest little mess - she can cuddle her way out of any trouble. She is quite the ring leader and loves getting everyone to join her in crazy zoomies. Her confidence gets her in some trouble with larger dogs but Brier is too busy playing to even notice. Sharp witted puppy like Madonna is quite the treat - I'm really enjoying the consistency with Neve's pups - she reminds me so much of my pick Harvey from the Circus litter. Curiosity is one of my favorite pup traits and she embodies that fully with her lengthy but bold investigation of everything. Always the first to plunge ahead at new sensory items or new sounds. She is a softy who loves to be pulled up into a lap and will sit for hours snoozing. Promising career in her new home - her sire's Importer at Harlow Kennel & Kennel Ehre.
