INTERVIEW QUESTIONS
Owner: We've been at it a long time when it comes to showing now: three generations strong and counting. The littles are now getting in on it too, with my Kelis getting ready to start entering PeeWee divisions for practice! I grew up on a small farm setting with my mother Léonie, immediately introduced into the world of working Dobermann and Bernese Mountain Dogs. We had other breeds here and there, but those were always the two constants that mark Kaiser even to this day. As time pressed on and I took over the mantle, I've always wanted to continue our lines as well as introduce others into our programs. In large part, it was including smaller projects like our new Border Collies in order to fill certain niches left vacant within homestead life. It's always been so interesting, our setup. As a family of five (soon to be six), my partners, Blake and Zahara, and I couldn't be more thrilled to turn the next chapter and see what's in store for us. We hope a World's win comes with that!
Dog: Queue Aillil. Oh, how he fits his name. He was named after an elf theme, after a legendary king at that. When he moves, he most certainly fits true to his moniker. He's truly a sight to see, from the way to he sways to the way he knows he's a dog to beat. In the ring, we couldn't ask for a better foundation boy. Outside the ring - or when he's not working in general - that all changes. What begins as a majestic creature of legend becomes an absolute goofball ready to play. He's a lover more than anything, but it's all a game. He will act like the greatest fool in the room, romping about, jumping, barking, anything to get your attention on him. A charmer, he is. He's always with us because it's where he's happiest; he's one of our most velcro dogs. His off-switch is certainly bar none, though. That bit of kingship comes right out of him again when it's time to work. He's even done an excellent job of giving our other herders something to mimic. He's knows he's being watched and has to be on top.
How was your year: We've taken it a bit slower this year in terms of showing but it truly has still be one for the books for us. We've so enjoyed prioritizing family time, training, and working on our litters over the hustle and bustle of showing. That said, we are truly eager to get back to it this coming year though. Everything is coming up great for Kaiser.
Extra: As just an extra tidbit, our sweet Aillil has proven himself to be something of our puppy socialization expert. It can often be seen with all of the litters we've had this year that he is right there with them, down in the trenches of puppyhood guiding them through it and giving them a large target to try and take down. He takes it all in stride, though. He loves being the soft nudge - when mom's not running the show of course - in the right direction, while still encouraging just a little extra mischief.
