INTERVIEW QUESTIONS
Owner: Starting Kennel Nocturne has been the biggest adventure yet and Maeve has been one of the gifts that has come out of our wonderful partnership with Red Hills Ranch. Limiting ourself to beautiful black dogs has given us a small but great range of breeds to work with. Starting with our roots (especially Suzie’s), being Groenendaels, Giant Schnauzer quickly came onto the stage to share the spotlight. Suzie, my wife, loves the conformation part with them, joining our dogs on several occasions when participating at the SIKC. Maeve being the youngest and still needing most of the guidance has formed a wonderful bond with Suzie, resulting in a great start in conformation for our beauty. And for Suzie, Maeve qualifying and entering the championship has been a wonderful confirmation of all the hard work, patience and love.
Dog: Maeve can be an explosion of energy, surprising most of the people who meet her after seeing her compete in a show. In the ring she has such focus and willingness to give her all, you wouldn’t recognise her as the pup rolling in the garden and chasing butterfly’s. She loves to learn new things, but when her mind is elsewhere she can be a handful. Conformation has been a great outlet for her, travelling to new places, meeting a lot of new people and other dogs. But she also wouldn’t pass up the change to have a lazy evening, chilling with Suzie and I in the couch.
How was your year: Maeve had been a busy pup last year, even before joining us at Nocturne. When still residing at RHR they worked on her junior shows, COA-wise, and her first dabble in conformation when she entered the Halloween confo in 2020. After joining us her life quickly changed with the annual Championship coming to the SIKC not long after her full transfer. Looking at where she is now, this has been a dream come true for this little pup with big aspirations in the showing ring.
Extra: In 2021 we would love to see a grown-up Maeve doing what she does best, stealing the spotlight and showing of her Schnauzer qualities. With her 2 years coming up quicker then we think, a lot of opportunities will be waiting for our little butterfly here at the SIKC. Her growing presence in conformation is her main focus for now, but who knows what else the future will hold for this special girl.
