INTERVIEW QUESTIONS
Owner: Althea is one of the youngest additions to our pack. I have followed her very closely upon arriving here at our Windenburg facilities as I do with all my pups. She has been an amazing pup, really eager to show us her spirit and eagerness. Seeing her do so well is such a great feeling, the confirmation that you’re doing it right as handlers and as a team. Lisa has been doing superb work with the youngsters at the Ranch, making this her time to shine as a junior handler at Althea’s side. They both represent our juniors the best any team could.
Handler: Lisa was adopted by mom and dad, Mr and Mrs Morgan, at a very young age and practically grew up in the midst of an animal-filled ranch. Animals were her best friends, they cared deeply for each other and could play all day long. Lisa’s love for all animals is something I have rarely seen anywhere else. She bonds with them so easily, it’s lovely to see. Me starting as the head of my own kennel immediately caught her attention, she was my very first junior handler to join the team. Now she’s 17 and trying to find her place in the world. If she wants it, I’m leaving my Red Hills Legacy to her when the time comes to step aside and let the next generation take over.
Dog: It’s such a pretty sight to see her running around the Ranch. You can’t miss such a white coat! Althea really stands out from a crowd, and not just because of her looks. This mellow sweetheart steals your heart in a matter of seconds. She works really well with almost anyone, from working with our handlers to playing with the toddlers (more like the kids now, they grow so fast). When she has some alone time, a simple ball will keep her at it for hours, throwing it around to then chase and catch it again. It’s a funny game to see her play, our quirky Althea. Oh and a lovely swim! Spring is her absolute favourite season. Not too hot, but good enough to get us out and about to use the pool. If you want to see a white water monster, stop by to see Althea being just that!
How was your year: With youngsters, it’s always a busy period with the COA tests. They are quite a big priority for us, junior-wise, and with Althea it was no different last year. The annual Championship was a big opportunity for her to prove her abilities in such an important show. While we love to work on the basics with our youngsters, they all have their inherited talents and with Althea conformation is a big one. When she qualified we couldn’t be happier for her, a great sign for her future career at the SIKC & SKA.
Extra: I wasn’t particularly looking to add a Great Pyrenees to RHR, but seeing Dawnle’s pictures of those fluffy pups made me smile all day long. Little did I know there was going to be a free spot for one of those little clouds! It all happened very fast, resulting in me only telling France about what was happening and surprising everyone else at the Ranch with this cutie. We are so happy to have her here and seeing how she is blossoming into a beautiful lady in and next to the show ring.
