INTERVIEW QUESTIONS
Owner: Showing has been in the Lind blood for, what, three generations now? It's what I grew up on and it's what I'll be doing for all my days. Since taking over in my young adulthood, it's been such a beautiful, overwhelming experience to take the dogs my mother began with and help them to grow, be better, and to be on this path now of breeding better. I like to think that's what we do here, we continually work to better our breeds and ourselves. Now that I was able to enter my own Bred By dogs this year, it's truly been a trip to see all that we've done. All my dogs are my pride and joy but it's been Dobes since the beginning of Kaiser. We've gone from raising standard show dogs out on the farm, to functional protection dogs, to now dogs that can do all of the above and some more entertaining sports like Parkour or Freestyle. It's all about evolution and versatility with myself and my crew. Speaking of crew, Zahara, Scáthach's handler for this event, is also fantastic. I couldn't imagine entering the ring without her and our other partner, Blake. We're a really solid team and I think that reflects in what she does. She didn't come from a life of showing but it's always seemed so effortless for her to handle the dogs.
Dog: Scáthach is every bit her father's daughter, which we've found is pretty common in our good ole foundation boy, Alder's, offspring. She's got a lot of her mother in her too, though. We really ended up with this stunning, well-rounded dog that's bold and brilliant all wrapped into a dog that (usually) wants to please us. She's got a bit of extra kick to her, though, for sure! She's first out the door, but also first to check back in with us. We couldn't ask for better. She's really taken to anything we throw at her, too. 'Thach is an all-around athlete, but she really seems to enjoy the more wild games like parkour. When she isn't working, she's with us - me, primarily. Zahara often calls her "Haydog," as the canine version of myself or maybe just due to the fact she's always right alongside me.
How was your year: Oh, it's been grand! We've taken it a bit slower on getting out to shows this year with our busy schedule raising more litters than we would usually average. The focus has been mostly on conditioning our older dogs, not to say this girl is even close to old at two, but also properly socializing and training the young pups. When we have been able to turn out for a show though, we've generally done pretty well.
Extra: We're pleased as punch with how our current pedigree is filling out with our dogs, especially our longer lineages like the Dobes. Scáthach, in particular, comes from the line we've seen the most success out of. She hails out of our Supreme Grand Champion and Agility boy, Alder, who has by far and above seen some of the most success early on in our dog's careers. His puppies that went on to show and working homes have all done very well so far, seeing our oldest keeper out of him, Basil, do great in Conformation and starting to reel in some sporting titles as well. We simply can't wait to see how this line continues to evolve and prosper!
