INTERVIEW QUESTIONS
Owner: I began handling for my sister Pru, temporarily at first, humble beginnings didn’t leave much room in the budget for handlers and I was between photography gigs. The intricacies of conformation hadn’t made much of an impression on me, early on I was all about action! Dog sports were even more enthralling in front of the lens and I worked (quite sporadically) with a number of Macabre dogs in trials before I was given a conformation opportunity. Working with Sabrina was a different kind of exciting - She couldn’t be talked into anything, she naturally performed for me. My sister noticed before even I did, the synch me and Sabrina have. She was remarkably patient with me! I tell people this dog handles me. She enters the ring and shoots me a look that says “Do it just like I showed you!”. Sabrina works on her own terms and this quality is what drew me into the breed.
Dog: Sabrina is always practically shaking when we pull up to the stables - she beats me to the stalls every time. Peggy, our Dapple Gray, is quite tolerant of dog shenanigans thankfully. They even share carrots and oats, yum! Sabrina runs besides Peg and I with incredible endurance and instinct, she absolutely loves to get some real speed and I have to set her pace for the ride. Cowgirl by day and couch potato by night - she’s an expert lounger and can fall asleep just about anywhere as long as it’s right under me!
How was your year: It’s been chock full of surprises - officially overseeing the Dalmatian program here at Macabre has been the biggest honor for me. Road Dog was our favorite event, made even sweeter by her win! Her very first 1st in group was so rewarding - we always have some incredible competition. If we are going to take home a placement seems about half and half but that’s “half” the fun!
Extra: Hopefully we will be adding a few more spots to our Dalmatian program in 2021. Sabrina’s Champion title is pending and we are focused on demonstrating that our lines can coach like they were originally bred for. Sabrina’s personal goals are a mystery but I’m positive they would have something to do with Peggy the Dapple as well!
