INTERVIEW QUESTIONS
Owner: I grew up with the Wolfe, have run many an IWERD, and introduced many a dog to a herd - Finn was a first. I'm far more used to the hearty working lines and the snappish, aloof attitudes the dogs tend towards, Finn has been a treasure. Not only has he afford me the opportunity to work with a line I've had little experience with, through him, I've been entrusted a larger role in the longevity of the breed than I had ever dreamed. More handler oriented, more prone to being underfoot, and very intuitive.
Dog: Finn is very much so a gentle giant. Always underfoot but smart enough to know when to back off and give you some space. While at Dire he didn't let the lack of insulating coat stop him, he was out and about with Aslaug whenever possible and preferred to camp out with whichever of the line dogs would tolerate him. He's found a nice little niche at Blue Rivers helping to acclimate rescue dogs and horses. He absolutely loves being in the ring, any one on one time with a handler is a top-notch day in his mind, and he definitely preened a bit under a judges scrutiny.
How was your year: A little slow but action-packed when things were goin'. He's done fantastically for us in the ring this year, earning his Grand Champion title with little hassle including a couple BOO/BOB placements. He's hit what goals we had set for him, admittedly, earlier than we had planned! His time at Blue Rivers has absolutely done him some good.
Extra: It'll be a sad day for all of BR's staff once Finn is finally ready to head back home. While we're sure Dire is missing him we can't deny that he's become such an important fixture of the kennel, rescue, staff, and families lives while he's been here. I'm for sure going to miss him, but he'll be adding some lovely contributions to the line BR hopes to foster.
