Pedigrees

A pedigree is a record that documents the lineage of a dog. It can go back for countless generations, from a foundation all the way its youngest descendant. Although it is not a requirement to maintain them, they can be very helpful in establishing your own lines as a breeder and is beneficial in following the success of your litters. They also make for great tools in line-breeding or preventing a high inbred coefficient.
You can usually just mock up a simple document in MS Paint, Photoshop, or GIMP, ect.
You can simply replicate something similar to what you can find on Google by searching 'dog pedigree.' Nothing super fancy is needed![/ul][/ul]
Health Tests
Health testing over all is not a requirement for your dogs in order to participate in the forum although it is needed for some specific events. One of the many benefits of health testing is the realism it adds to maintaining your own breeding program. People mostly use it to add variety and realism to creating breeding lines. It prevents every single dog on site from being 'breeding stock,' since it's unlikely in the real world that every puppy of every litter would go on to be healthy/quality for litters.
It also helps to encourage pairs you may not have originally intended or may even lead you to working on a collaborative litter with another kennel because your dogs would breed puppies with health defects.
If you're looking to create a service yourself, you'd have to extensively research whichever breed(s) you're planning to provide health tests for and create a RNG, fair method of determining health issues/lack thereof for the dog.
SIKC does endorse a limited amount of health test providers. These are often individuals who have proven that the way they test is fair and random in all cases. Just because a service isn't currently endorsed doesn't mean it isn't a good source of information, testing, or a good way to get some RP going for your dog! We encourage people to make realistic, fair services that may eventually be added to our list.
Some people simply perform their own rolls on things such as genotype, hips, and elbows but it isn't backed up by a service and organizations are generally considered more 'reliable' from a RP standpoint. If your breed does not already have any offered health service, there's no shame in foregoing the testing until there is a service that covers the breed.

Agencies

Agencies are a unique aspect of the SIKC roleplay community in which people must apply to own one! As SIKC refers to them, they are one of three different areas of professional training offered by a company: general (Obedience, Nose Work, etc), Therapy, or Service Dog training. In order to formally provide services and benefits toward official SIKC titles, a company must be licensed by SIKC. Any agency that does not have certification from SIKC is therefore not recognized and provides no benefits.
These are heavily story motivated aspects of the community that require the owner to engage in a solid amount of work between owner and customer. Due to the nature of some of these, we require the application process since they open the door to very niche titles that the majority of dogs on the forum should not be seeking. This doesn't necessarily apply to all agencies, however!
