INTERVIEW QUESTIONS
Handler: My full time career is actually that of a wildlife conservationist! I spend the majority of my time working with at-risk wildlife, in their own habits and also on a small sanctuary in the Netherlands. Any off time I have is usually spent volunteering there or working at Kaiser. You just can't pull me away from four-legged folk. I am pretty new to handling dogs at a professional level, but it's always been fascinating to me to witness the bonds between domestic and wild animals. Normally I'd never be able to get my paws on River since he's very much Hayden's boy, but I absolutely loved handling him for this show! He's a bit of a stubborn one, but I'm definitely drawn to that and he did perform well for me - I think he just fancies showing off more than anything.
Dog: River is one of our most solid boys, with an uncanny ability to play the part of the chameleon and to transform into whatever we need at that moment. He takes to everything with such ease, we're always so impressed. Riv has an incredible drive without being too overbearing, seeking gratification through praise no matter what is asked of him. He's done very well for us thus far and continues to show a desire to press forward and keep competing. We're so excited to see what places the river will take us on.
How was your year: Our boy has been stellar to work with and done so very well this year! He hit the top of his bracket by attaining his Grand Champion title, so we're now turning our heads to more work-oriented tasks for him. He's always done well competing in other arenas, but everyone is super excited to take him out of the ring - something that isn't quite his favorite - and press him toward those events that really let his drive shine through.
Extra: River is one of our most diverse pups, so we're grateful to be able to take him to do just about everything! We do limit his scope of trials to what he's interested in and will excel at, but ultimately we think we've found an all-around good dog. We don't have too many major goals for him outside of a few backend titles but we are might excited to work on extending his lineage into the near future. We can't wait to see what kind of progeny he will give us!
