Road Dog Safety

The following exercise will demonstrate proper exposure of equine, the RDS is prerequisite to the Road Dog Test for Youngsters.

1 picture is required but an additional image is allowed. 

Requirements: Dog must be Under 2
Setting: A horse in an open field.

[/b] Handler must be present in shot and the dog must be leashed while making a spiral path that gets closer to the horse each round. Breaks or hesitant behavior is expected and not marked off. Praise and reward (food, toys) are encouraged.

Beginner Road Dog Test 
Requirements: Youngsters must have completed Road Dog Safety.
1 picture is required but an additional image is allowed.
Pick one of the following exercises. 

[/b] the dog must begin in a standing position on one side of the horse and walk behind the still horse
(Always out of kicking distance) to the other side and stand alert for the next command. 
» Recall:  The dog is recalled by the handler from a distance to a standing position beside the still horse.

Masters Road Dog Test
Requirements: Must be over 2, Passed Beginner Road Dog Test and have 2 Participation in Road Dog Trials.
3 pictures are requires but an additional image is allowed.
Pick three of the following exercises to demonstrate for the final portion of the Road Dog Test.

[/b]Dog must ride on horse with mounted handler showing visible steadiness. 
» Iron Stay: Dog must refrain from following their handler on horseback while another dog catches up to them.
A standing, lying, or sitting stay is allowed.
» Guard: Dog must guard an unattended horse from an unknown sim, barking to alert its handler.
» Release:Dog must be released by handler on horseback to another handler on horseback while in motion.

Grading

Each entry will be evaluated on the following criterion: Teamwork, Safety, Obedience, Arena, Style
Failure to complete the RDS will prevent Youngsters from entering the BRD. Retakes are not permitted for the RDS portion of the RDT.
If either component of the actual Road Dog Test is failed, it may be retaken again once at a later date at the discretion of the judge that graded the original test. The same judge must grade the second attempt unless they are no longer active.
All grades are final.
