Welcome to the Villhund and Falkhund Coalition, parent club to both of these deeply connected breeds. Although the two breeds have their own unique identities and purpose for being, they have a distinct history that has permanently linked them together. The bond between them runs thick as thieves, as some of the breed's original founders too became family and eventually intertwined their fate.[break][break]
The VFC's primary goal is to educate and promote breed health, in addition to the continued development and genetic diversity of a small gene pool. It is our ambition that both Villhund and Falkhund continue to become the best manifestations of their purpose.[break][break]
Our dogs unique jobs, including a specific methodology to hunting practices, are something we strive to bring awareness to and to eventually include as public trialing events for the avid kennel-goer.

The Falkhund is a lithe, well-muscled dog with known for its long legs and majestic carriage. They are a dignified presence and one of few breeds known today bred to hunt alongside falcons. They present as a very fluid dog and somewhat dainty in stature, without the sacrifice to intensity and purpose. Dogs may present with or without feathering, both are of equal measure, instead with a focus on richness of color and correct structure.[break]
[break]
They act as a very capable pointer and retriever, with the speed and endurance to maintain pursuit. This was the design since their conception and has remained as such throughout much of history. Differing from their ancestors, they have been bred away from the instinct to kill upon capture and instead work with the falcon to bring down their prey. Whether used as a pointer, treer, or flusher they do well all the same working with their avian partner.[break]
[break]
In addition to the original machinations of human design within the breed, they have in later years been brought in to work alongside canine pack hunters such as the Villhund. These large hunts still make use of the bird, having the Falkhund take charge of steering the pack while it works with its primary companion, in order to direct Villhund for the takedown.

A powerful, hardy dog of large size and stature; it gives off confidence with a distinct calmness. A dog built to navigate difficult terrain with ease, the Villhund is a nomad's ideal companion. They've the temperament to both watch and mind herds of livestock and to bring down unwanted predators with little intervention from their people. All the same, they still make devout companions willing to work so long as their own independence and intuition are respected. Each of the three lines of dog vary little in structure, but moderately in temperament, biddability, and preferred work environment. Skills and traits follow closely along this line, with some dogs being better suited to guardianship, others to hunting, and others still to working in the water.[break]
[break]
From the wild and stubborn primitive dog to the tolerant show dog, all lines are tireless workers eager to be put to purpose.[break]
